A jagged peak, it stabs the sky,
a dagger's thrust aimed far too high
Here on the ground, I feel it pierce,
For it is much too vast to climb
The rocky trail is much too steep,
my foothold slips, my lungs grow weak
The mountain sings a failure's song
and mocks my clumsy feet
A gust of wind throws off my stance
I'm hanging here, as down I glance
So close to death, too far I've come
to leave this timely climb to chance
As gales of wind tug at my hair,
I feel His presence meet me there,
and though I cling to crumbling dirt
I offer up a simple prayer
My wayward step will tend to waver,
on treacherous paths of roots and danger,
I won't survive to see the peak
unless I'm climbing with my Savior.

Ephesians 4:22-24
With breath so fleeting, I breathe out,
The life I'm leading, I lay down
Here in this grave, I lay myself
to be yours
Etch my desire on the stone,
Tear up the will I've made my own
Here in this place, let your mercy fall
make me yours
I'll abandon myself in this place,
if pride is the price that I pay,
let me die to myself
and live in Your glory
for Your glory
I lay this grave before your feet,
my God, I give you all of me
the broken, outcast, incomplete
I'm yours
Death to myself, a life to gain
I'll raise this heart to praise Your name
Walk with me in your upright ways,
I love you
You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.
The life I'm leading, I lay down
Here in this grave, I lay myself
to be yours
Etch my desire on the stone,
Tear up the will I've made my own
Here in this place, let your mercy fall
make me yours
I'll abandon myself in this place,
if pride is the price that I pay,
let me die to myself
and live in Your glory
for Your glory

when she got that bible....
My Gramma is pretty special. She is a praying woman.
She's the kind of lady who, if struggling to sleep, will open her bible at 2 am and read.
Her bible is falling apart from use, and she has underlined every word, every verse, and every chapter that has spoken to her heart over the years.
I want my bible to look like that someday.
Today, my grampa bought her a new bible, and he even had her name written in gold letters on the front cover.
My gramma was SO excited. I have never seen someone respond to a bible quite like my gramma did.
I think its because she knows something the rest of us forget, or ignore, or don't comprehend.
She knows it's written to her,
that the words inside are precious
and that the word of God is filled with more love than we could possibly ever know.
I love that.
And I wish more people, myself very much included, had that excitement over God's words!
